Privacy Policy

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how WalkHero (“we,” “our,” or “us”) handles information when you use the WalkHero iOS or Android application and this website. WalkHero has no user accounts. It displays permitted movement data, records walks you deliberately start and provides progress, widget and subscription features.

Information handled by the app

• Movement data: with your permission, WalkHero reads steps, walking or running distance and active calories from Apple Health on iOS or Health Connect on Android. Android may also request permission to read older Health Connect history for long-term progress. WalkHero does not write to either health provider or request background Health Connect reads. This movement data is processed on your device and is not sent to WalkHero servers or analytics providers.
• Recorded walks and location: when you deliberately start a recorded walk, WalkHero uses location access to create the route and session details, including while a walk remains active in the background. Recorded routes and Walk History remain on your device. Mapbox may process unidentified location and map-usage telemetry while its maps are used.
• Goals and app preferences: your walking goal, onboarding choices, widget settings and related app state are stored locally on your device.
• iOS product analytics and diagnostics: the iOS app uses PostHog to understand product interactions and diagnose errors. Analytics events are designed not to include movement values, recorded routes or precise location. The initial Android release does not initialize PostHog.
• iOS advertising attribution: the iOS app uses Singular to measure installs, campaigns and subscription events. Device or advertising identifiers may be processed where permitted. Tracking permission is controlled through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt and device settings. The initial Android release does not initialize Singular and does not request the Android advertising identifier.
• Purchases: RevenueCat processes subscription status, purchase receipts, purchase history and entitlement information. Payments are processed by Apple’s App Store or Google Play; we do not receive your complete payment-card details.
• Google Play reviewer access: an authorized Google Play reviewer may enter a temporary review code. Cloudflare and RevenueCat process the anonymous RevenueCat identifier and access grant needed to enable that review.
• Support: if you contact us, we receive the information you include in your message so we can respond.

Website and flyer analytics

The WalkHero website is hosted by Cloudflare. When you visit the website or open a printed flyer link, Cloudflare processes standard request information needed to deliver and secure the service. For flyer measurement, we store an aggregate event containing the campaign, country and region, broad device and operating-system category, browser category, primary language, referring website domain, Cloudflare data-centre code and whether the request resembles automated traffic. Our custom flyer dataset does not store IP addresses, precise location, full referrer URLs or advertising identifiers. These events help us understand how many flyer links were opened and which placements are useful.

How we use information

We use the information described above to provide WalkHero, show your progress, record walks you request, manage purchases, improve reliability, understand feature use where applicable, measure iOS acquisition and provide support.

Health data

WalkHero does not use Apple Health or Health Connect data for advertising or tracking, and we do not sell health data. You can review or revoke WalkHero’s health permissions through Apple Health or Health Connect at any time.

Third-party services

WalkHero relies on service providers that process limited information under their own terms and privacy policies:

• RevenueCat for subscriptions, purchase entitlements and authorized reviewer access.
• Mapbox for maps and associated location or usage telemetry.
• PostHog for iOS product analytics and diagnostics.
• Singular for iOS advertising attribution and campaign measurement.
• Apple for Apple Health permissions, App Tracking Transparency and App Store purchases.
• Google for Health Connect permissions and Google Play purchases.
• Cloudflare for website hosting, security, reviewer-access rate limiting and aggregate flyer analytics.

Retention and deletion

Movement data is read as needed and is not stored on our servers. Goals, preferences, recorded routes and Walk History remain on your device until you remove them or delete the app. Android app data is excluded from cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. Analytics, attribution, flyer-open, reviewer-access and purchase records are retained according to the applicable provider’s settings and legal obligations.

Your choices

• Manage Apple Health, Health Connect, physical-activity and location permissions through your device settings.
• Use the Mapbox attribution control where available to review its telemetry choice.
• On iOS, allow or deny tracking through App Tracking Transparency and change that choice in Settings.
• Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple or Google Play account.
• Delete locally stored Walk History from the app or remove the app from your device.
• Contact us with questions or requests relating to information included in your support correspondence.

Children

WalkHero is intended for people aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as WalkHero or its service providers change. We will publish the updated policy and revise the date above.
