A target you can audit.
The calculator does not decide what your body should do. It turns your plan into a simple average.
Use the result as a direction, not a verdict.
The same target can produce different days. What matters is whether it helps you make a useful choice when there is time to walk.
- Try it for one or two ordinary weeks.Do not judge the target from your best day or your busiest day.
- Look at the weekly pattern.A daily average leaves room for work, weather, recovery and quieter days.
- Adjust one input at a time.Change the extra minutes, walking days or pace estimate when your routine changes.
Why the calculator starts with you.
There is no universal daily step prescription. The World Health Organization expresses general adult activity guidance in weekly minutes, including at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity. That is different from assigning everyone one step count.
Research commonly uses about 100 steps per minute as a practical estimate for moderate-intensity walking in healthy adults, but cadence and intensity vary by age, height, mobility and individual gait. That is why the pace control is labeled as an estimate.

Questions about daily step goals
What should my daily step goal be?
A useful goal starts with your current average and adds walking that fits your actual week. The calculator turns those planned extra walks into an average daily target.
Do I need to walk 10,000 steps every day?
No. There is no universal daily step target. Public activity guidelines are generally expressed in weekly minutes and intensity, while a personal step goal is a planning tool that can begin above or below 10,000.
How does the calculator estimate steps from walking time?
It multiplies your planned minutes by an estimated cadence of 80, 100 or 120 steps per minute. These are planning estimates, not precise measures of speed or exercise intensity.
How often should I change my step goal?
Keep the target long enough to observe an ordinary pattern, usually one or two weeks. Adjust it when it consistently feels too easy, unrealistic or no longer fits your circumstances.
